Today, it seems like everybody wants to give their advice about health, but it only surrounds physical health. What people don’t realize is that mental health is just as important as physical health and actually has some close links involved in their relationship.

When it comes to mental and physical health, their differences are not easy to recognize. It is also a complicated process if we even try to set them apart. However, it is known that a person’s physical health gets affected coincidentally and non-coincidentally. With that, let’s take a look at how they are relatable.

1. Cardiovascular Health, Anxiousness, and Anger

Feeling anxious and anger has a direct effect on cardiovascular health. In a review conducted by the University of Sydney, they showed a direct relation between a heart attack and anger. The researchers all agreed that the findings confirmed the evidence that an outburst of anger can easily set off heart attacks.

It was shown that the risk of a heart attack increases and is almost nine times more likely to occur when an individual has a clinched or tense body, which makes them feel like “exploding.”

With anxiousness, individuals have an increased chance of a heart attack which could occur within a couple of hours from onset of the anxious feeling. Although heart attacks are not the norm as a youth, having an increase in anxiety and anger, coupled with impulsiveness, can still have an effect on their heart.

2. Your Immune System and Depression

With depression being the main trigger of a mental disorder, it also has a huge influence over our immune system. This is seen in the T cell as they’re prevented from fighting off germs that have invaded the body. This is how the body gets sick and begins its downward spiral of health. When an immune system is decreased, it can also cause other pre-existing health conditions to worsen.

Recent studies have also indicated that the immune system may actually be the reason behind depression. This is seen through stress and how response in the immune system can be caused by your brain. It is believed that this response is behind depression.

Ensuring that your immune system is strong is paramount in maintaining your body’s health. However, when stress is added, your chance for depression can double. This increase in depression, along with stress, can cause an endless cycle that could have deadly consequences.

It is through this example that shows the correlation between mental and physical health among the immune system.

3. Exhaustion and Being Mentally Tired

It has been proven that many mental disorders have been associated with exhaustion and feeling mentally tired. When an individual is tired mentally, this tiredness can easily spill over physically.

One study that was conducted at Bangor University had individuals utilize exercise bikes until they were exhausted. Exhaustion was described as being unable to maintain the pace set for them as they exercised.

There were two scenarios set up for the study. The first scenario had individuals riding normally. The second scenario had individuals focus on various prompts in their environment that surrounded reaction and memory and which lasted for at least an hour and a half.

Following the engagement of the challenges, individuals who were challenged mentally had disclosed an exhaustive state. Not only that, but it was also noted that they became exhausted significantly earlier than the other participants.

It just goes to show that exhaustion is related to many mental disorders and which can cause an individual’s health to decrease.

With individuals suffering from anxiety or depression, exercise is going to be the furthest idea from their minds. Even if they did, they would rather end their exercise session a lot sooner than normal. When you are exhausted because of a mental disorder, it can also have a negative impact on personal cleanliness and other things you should do each day..
